HAROLD THOMAS "GIB" GIBBONS
Harold Thomas "Gib" Gibbons of Santa Fe, NM passed away at the University of New Mexico Hospital on January 24, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM due to leukemia at age 92.
Gib was born on July 16, 1926 and grew up in Altus, OK to Lon Gregory Gibbons and Tommie Ann Dickey. He graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in journalism. He served in the Army Air Corps where he was a World War II Army of Occupation aircraft mechanic. He married Joan Burian in December 1951, where they went on to live in Arizona, Northern California, and Hawaii. Gib worked in wholesale food sales as an award winning salesman, sales manager, and branch manager. He retired in 1991 to Santa Fe and dedicated his remaining time to volunteering his fix-it skills to local service organizations, building his garden railroad, and caring for his family.
Gib is remembered by his humor, generosity, and thoughtfulness. He was a good friend, father and husband; easily providing love and care. Gib and his wife enjoyed projects which brought them great joy.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Eric, Greg and Ellen; daughter-in-laws, Diane and Elizabeth, grandchildren Paige, Emily, Tucker, Shaun and Maxim; and great-grandchildren Rylinn and Lexi.
