CABRESTO LAKE: We had one angler report that they saw multiple fish jumping but were unable to coax them into biting. CIMARRON RIVER: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 27.9 cfs. Fishing was good using woolly buggers, beetle and ant patter flies. CLAYTON LAKE: As the weather gets warmer, the fishing for walleye and trout is starting to slow down. Primarily when the weather is cooler and cloudy, fishing is still reported as fair using nightcrawl­ers, pick spinners and PowerBait for trout. In the evenings, a few walleye have been caught fishing deep rocky structure using chartreuse curly tail grubs. Catfishing was fair using chicken liver. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels. CONCHAS LAKE: Fishing was very good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using senkos, jigs, tubes and creature baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using bottom bouncer spinner/worm rigs and minnow rigs for walleye. Jig heads with curly tail grub and minnow/worm combinatio­ns are also working well for walleye. Fishing was fair using cut bait, worms and liver for catfish. COSTILLA CREEK: Stream flow near Costilla on Monday was 108 cfs. Fishing is good with stimulator dry flies, beetle and ant patterns. COYOTE CREEK: Fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs and worms for trout. A few trout were also caught by anglers using elk hair caddis flies. EAGLE NEST LAKE: Fishing was good for trout and perch in the mornings and evenings using strike indicator with San Juan worm or black/tan wooly buggers below the water surface. Fishing was good using worms for perch. We had no reports on other species. EAGLE ROCK LAKE: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes, spinners, worms, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. HOPEWELL LAKE: Fishing was good for trout. Large trout are reportedly being caught by anglers using salmon peach PowerBait as well as larger fly patterns such as wooly buggers and Pistol Petes. LAKE MALOYA: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, spoons, spinners and PowerBait for trout. LOS PINOS RIVER: Fishing was good for anglers using woolly buggers and parachute adams flies. MAXWELL LAKE 13: Fishing fair for trout using worms. MONASTERY LAKE: Fishing was good using yellow PowerBait, dry flies and grasshoppe­rs for trout. MORPHY LAKE: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set. PECOS RIVER: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 123cfs. Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, wooly buggers, leach pattern flies and Panther Martin spinners for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout. RED RIVER: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 130 cfs. Fishing was good using Panther Martin holographi­c trout patterns for rainbow trout. Brown trout fishing was good using pointer minnow/Rapala type lures. RIO GRANDE: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 3,150 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species. RIO HONDO: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 74.8 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes. RIO MORA: Stream flow on Monday morning was 27.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. RIO PUEBLO: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 39.8 cfs. Fishing is fair to good using Panther Martin spinners and dry dropper fly combos using stimulator flies with woolly buggers/San Juan worms/pheasant tail size 14 and 16 flies below the water surface. SANTA CRUZ RESERVOIR: Fishing was fair to good using Super Dupers, spinners, spoons, Pistol Petes under a bubble, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. UTE LAKE: Fishing was very good using nightcrawl­ers for big bluegill. Fishing was good using plastic crawdads, tubes, senkos (rigged wacky) and grubs in 5 to 10 feet of water for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Good plastic bass bait colors have been natural, green, pumpkin and watermelon. Fishing was fair trolling crank baits that dive 10 to 12 feet for white bass that are beginning to school up. Fishing was slow fair using jigs, gulp minnows and live minnows for walleye. Fishing for catfish was good using liver and stink bait. The surface water temp was in the upper 70s.

ABIQUIÚ LAKE: Fishing has been inconsiste­nt probably due to the fluctuatin­g lake water level. This past week, anglers reported good fishing using nightcrawl­ers for walleye and catfish. Anglers are advised to use four-wheel-drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructio­ns on the water. ANIMAS RIVER: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 4,640 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. ALBUQUERQU­E AREA DRAINS: Fishing for carp was good using nightcrawl­ers. BLUEWATER LAKE: Fishing was very good for tiger muskie this past weekend. Anglers reported catching them on jerkbaits, crankbaits and spinnerbai­ts, and few were caught on top water lures. Fishing for catfish was fair with a few caught on chicken liver. Trout fishing was very slow; no one reported catching any trout this weekend. BRAZOS RIVER: Fishing was good using small bead head nymphs and worms for trout. CANJILON LAKES: Fishing was fair to good using spinners, Pistol Petes and PowerBait for trout. CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiú were 499 cfs and 899 cfs respective­ly. Fishing below El Vado was good using night crawlers, streamers, wooly buggers, flies, Panther Martins and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. Some large brown trout up to 22 inches were caught by anglers last week. Fishing was good for brown trout below Abiquiú Dam using flies with the color yellow in them. COCHITI LAKE: Fishing has been slow and the water is murky. Fishing was slow to fair fishing for catfish using beef liver, homemade dough baits, worms, cut bait and stink bait. We had no reports on other species. EL VADO LAKE: Fishing was very good for bass near the dam. Some trout were caught on the north end of the lake with one of the trout caught being reported at 20 plus inches. FENTON LAKE: Fishing was fair to good using spoons, Pistol Petes, nightcrawl­ers, PowerBait and a variety of flies for trout. HERON LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species, with just a few trout and kokanee salmon caught by anglers. The best bank fishing was reported to be on the lake’s western edge using worms and PowerBait for trout. JEMEZ WATERS: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 16.7 cfs. Fishing on the upper Jemez and San Antonio was good using dry flies and hoppers for rainbow and brown trout. A dropper fly, nymph or leech, attached to a hopper fly is a combinatio­n that is working well. Mosquitos are abundant and anglers should bring bug spray. MCGAFFEY LAKE: Fishing for trout was slow. NAVAJO LAKE: Fishing was slow for crappie. Fishing was fair to good using 3 to 4 inch natural red and orange plastic crawdad lures on jig heads. A few rainbow and brown trout were caught by anglers trolling crank baits. Pike fishing was fair using white/ yellow crankbaits and swim baits in 10 to 30 feet of water. We had no reports on other species. SAN GREGORIO LAKE: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes. SAN JUAN RIVER: Stream flow on Monday morning was 835 cfs. There recently was an ant hatch and the bite for such flies should continue for a few days. Trout fishing in shallower runs from Texas hole up stream toward the dam is fishing good with size 22-26 midges, anilids, crystal flash and crème larvae. Fishing below Texas hole in the deeper runs, fishing is fair using San Juan worms, leach patterns and egg patterns. Fishing the bait waters was fair to good using night crawlers, spinners and Gulp eggs. SEVEN SPRINGS BROOD POND: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, a wide assortment of small flies, leach patterns, woolly buggers and Pistol Petes for trout. TINGLEY BEACH: Fishing at all ponds was fair using worms and flies for bluegill. Fishing was slow to fair using hot dogs and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
