This long-running legal dramedy opens its ninth and final season, which finds Harvey and Donna (Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty) trying to balance their new relationsh­ip with efforts to salvage their law firm, which took a hit last season when Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) sacrificed himself to the bar associatio­n to save Harvey. Rick Hoffman (pictured), Dulé Hill, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Schull also return to their familiar series roles; original cast member Patrick J. Adams returns as Mike Ross in a midseason guest appearance.

8 p.m. on CW Jane The Virgin

Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) editor suggests a decidedly dark twist for her book, prompting Jane to wonder whether the idea might be based on one of the other woman’s actual experience­s in the new episode “Chapter Ninety-Seven.” While Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is helping River (guest star Brooke Shields) bond with her daughter, River makes things difficult for him yet again.

8 p.m. on NGEO Man vs. Shark

In this new special, marine biologist Jeremiah Sullivan gets up close to hungry hammerhead­s and deadly tiger sharks to measure how much damage they can do to his specially designed armored diving suits, including their bite force, body strength and ability to chew through his advanced materials. Sullivan will take the data he gathers and use it to create new armor — which once again he’ll test personally.

She may have gotten disbarred in New York to save a colleague in the world of Suits, but shrewd and strongwill­ed Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) carves out a new life for herself in Chicago as Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector) fixer in this smart, sleek new spinoff. As she navigates this new turf, however, Jessica has to find a way to reconcile her responsibi­lities with something she’ll never give up: a need to do the right thing.
