Sunday, Oct. 27
MEET CORNELIUS: The Santa Fe Children’s Museum, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, invites families to visit with corn snake Cornelius from 3 to 4:30 p.m., by admission: $7.50 for adults, $5 for children and free for infants and museum members. STARGAZER PLANETARIUM: The Children’s Museum presents an exploration of the cosmos through films and other programs in its portable planetarium; from noon to 5 p.m. by admission.
SENSORY FRIENDLY MORNING: Families who have children with autism or sensory sensitivities can come and enjoy a morning of quiet play from 10 a.m. to noon at the Children’s Museum. This event features low lighting, trained staff and a large menu of sensory supports. Admission is $3 for members or $5 for nonmembers.
FALL BOOK SALE: The Southside Branch Library offers books for sale for $10 per bag from 1 to 4 p.m. Teachers with school IDs can take books free of charge for their classrooms from
2 to 4 p.m.
CELEBRATE DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS: The Museum of International Folk Art on Museum Hill invites the community to its annual Day of the Dead celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Activities will include decorating sugar skulls, making cut paper banners and flowers, and sampling traditional Day of the Dead treats like pan de muerto and hot chocolate. Listen to traditional New Mexican musical performances by Rob Martinez at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and watch Los Niños perform traditional dances at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Come dressed as a skeleton and bring flowers, candles or a memento representing deceased loved ones to add to our community altars. Admission to the museum is free courtesy of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Fund for Museum Education.

STORY TIME AT BEE HIVE: Stories and songs for all ages at 10:30 a.m. at Bee Hive, 328 Montezuma Ave.; no charge. TODDLER TALES: The David Loughridge Learning Center at Meow Wolf, 1352 Rufina Circle, presents reading sessions and music for families, followed by an open art studio; 10 a.m. to noon; no charge.

SFCC HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA: Santa Fe Community College offers safe trick or treating for the whole family from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the main hallway on campus, 6401 Richards Ave. This is an alcohol-free and smoke-free event. No weapons will be allowed, real or fake. No masks will be allowed. The event is sponsored by SFCC’s Office of Student Development.

GARDEN SPROUTS: Stories and hands-on activities for children ages 3 to 5 with a caregiver from 9 to 10 a.m., weather permitting; sponsored by the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and the Railyard Park Conservancy. Meet at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden on Museum Hill, 725 Camino Lejo; $5 suggested donation; free to members and children under 12.
ALL-AGES CHESS: The Vista Grande Public Library presents a chess program from 3 to 5 p.m. All players under 12 must have parental permission.
FRIDAY AFTERNOON ART: The Southside Branch Library invites families to participate in a free Día de los Muertos craft program from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Supplies will be provided. Adults must be accompanied by a child.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT: The Vista Grade Public Library holds a free screening of Aladdin, rated PG, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Popcorn will be provided.
