Patrick Dempsey OF ‘DEVILS’ ON THE CW
What was the main lure for you to resume series work with the globally financed “Devils”? With this, it was a great opportunity to travel and to work in world cinema. I think the strength of “Devils” is the ensemble. You take the foundation that “Grey’s Anatomy” has allowed me to have, and to be able to travel around the world and work with filmmakers in their own countries, it’s something that I want to do a lot more of. Your “Devils” character, international banking magnate Dominic
Morgan, proves early on in the show that he can’t necessarily be trusted. What do you like about the role? There’s so much subtext. He’s saying one thing but doing another thing, and it’s really nice to be able to play something like that. It’s such a departure from what I’ve played in the past. He has a set of rules and guidelines that he lives by, and he believes in them. He is completely committed to his beliefs and how he feels the world system should be run. You’re also well-known for your passion for auto racing, having driven in many events and also being the partowner of a team. Are you satisfied with your current balance between that world and acting? Yes. I’ve really learned a lot through racing. Your focus has to be 100 percent on one thing at a time, and you do that until it’s completed and then move on. A lot of the training from that has really helped me whether I’m producing or putting a (show business) team together. It’s all about the people around you in creating the right atmosphere.
