Santa Fe New Mexican

BB BEVERLY

-

BB Beverly aka Beebe, age 94, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 10, 1926 to Leo and Ann Peshkin.

Her Hebrew name is Chayah Beile and she is survived by son, Alan Feldman (aka Water), son Hayyim Feldman, sister Franceska Plusker, grandchildren Harmony McCullough, Sarafina and Vauna-Lee Feldman, greatgrandchildren, Cora and Sigrid McCullough.

BB grew up in Chicago’s West Side Jewish immigrant neighborhood where she lived through the Depression and national recovery. She moved to Santa Fe, NM, sight unseen, by train in 1970 to join her sons and has lived in Santa Fe ever since. She blessed her family and large circle of friends in the Santa Fe area, as well as total strangers, with her award-winning singing voice, her graceful and energetic dance movements, and the gentle warmth she bestowed upon all who encountered her.

BB attended the College of Santa Fe and was especially proud of the work she did in Chicago for a War on Poverty neighborhood center, and in Santa Fe for an ACLU attorney as well as for the United States Forest Service and the National Audubon Society. As an active member of the Santa Fe Jewish community, BB was a supporting member of the Santa Fe Jewish Community Center (now Temple Beth Shalom) and of Kol BeRamah Torah Learning Center, as well as other prayer and spiritual circles. She was probably most widely known, however, as a laughing, singing dancer at various Santa Fe hotspots, even into her 90s, where she especially enjoyed rock ‘n’ roll, blues, country, and swing music.

Graveside service will be restricted to family due to the current Pandemic, to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE in Albuquerque, NM.
