Albert E. Velasquez, age 91, of Glorieta, NM passed away peacefully on 6 December, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents Albert Velasquez Sr. and Frances Velasquez, his wife Violeta E Velasquez of 69 years, siblings Billy Velasquez, sister Berline Montoya, brother Bobby Velasquez, sons Armando and Mario, and daughter Monica Lucero.

He is survived by sibling Rudy Velasquez, brother-in-law Jimmy Salazar, children Enrico (Roberta), Rolando (Marie), Diego (Ursula), Raul, Carlos, and Reynaldo (Amanda), 15 grandchild­ren, 17 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

Albert worked for the Santa Fe New Mexican for 38 years, starting in 1955 as a Linotype Operator and finishing his career as a Front Line Supervisor in charge of getting the daily pages to the press room for printing of the paper. Albert had an unblemishe­d record for getting the paper printed each day.

He later became a master woodworker with numerous Spanish colonial pieces created for St. Anthony’s Church in Pecos, which includes the main altar. Albert was a man of great faith who made significan­t contributi­ons to religious teachings required for the sacraments of baptism and marriage. His greatest happiness was the love he and wife Violeta experience­d during their marriage of 69 years. So now they are together again for eternity to love and cherish.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Pecos, NM at 11:00 on Saturday, 19 December 2020 followed by burial at the parish cemetery.
