Dan Terrell, 72, March 6

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Dan Terrell, a loving father, leader, and friend, passed away at the age of 72.

Dan was born February 12, 1949, to JoAnn and Paul Terrell in Stillwell, OK. He was captain of his Putnam City High School football team, a champion wrestler, and an incredible baseball player. Dan moved to Santa Fe in 1971, where he built the largest title company in the state, Territorial Abstract and Title Company, and became a successful real estate developer. He was a member, served on the board, and was President (1980–1981) of the New Mexico Land Title Association. He received the P.C. Templeton Award in 2005 and the Omer F. Tucker Award, Citizen of the Year in 1999 from the same association.

Dan had a passion for life, family, friends, and a good time. He could always be found at Maria’s or the Bull Ring discussing the latest politics or watching a football game. He loved playing a round of golf with his buddies and fellow New Mexico Amigos members, or working on his tractor in Chama, NM. He was known for his smile, quick laugh, and hugs. Dan was the best advocate for those he loved.

Dan was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and JoAnn Terrell. He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia White and Lara Terrell; grandsons, Colin and Cass White. He was loved by his former spouses Paula Hurst and Patty Terrell and stepdaughter, Hunter Redman. Dan is survived by his three brothers David Terrell, Donald and his wife, Roxanne Terrell, and Richard Terrell. He was the beloved uncle to Jason Hurley, Hailey Terrell, Jared Terrell, Jordan Terrell, and Damon Terrell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Bull Ring Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dan Terrell’s name to the American Lung Association.
