Santa Fe New Mexican

TOM TROWBRIDGE

-

On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, Tom Trowbridge, a loving father, partner, friend, and journalist, passed away at the age of 62. Tom was born January 27, 1959, to Charles and Justine Trowbridge in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up on Long Island. After graduating from Long Island Lutheran high school, he headed to Eugene, OR to attend the University of Oregon, where Tom majored in electronic media. He also had a Master’s Degree in Public Information from the University of New Mexico.

Tom gained his reputation as a titan of the airwaves with his warm, distinctive, deep tone which informed listeners in radio stations across the country from Oregon to Delaware, but most of all in New Mexico where segments of his reporting, over the years, were heard in the eastern, western, southern, and mostly in the northern parts of the state. His voice could be heard at various radio stations, including NPR affiliates, especially KUNM and KANW. Over the past few years, he was the news director for Santa Fe’s KSFR. His last assignment was covering news from the state’s current legislative session for New Mexico News Network.

Tom had many passions, and one of those was bicycle riding. He was a strong advocate for safe bike lanes in Santa Fe. If he was not at New Mexico’s Round House, Tom could be found on bike paths or playing tennis. He loved Santa Fe and green chili with a passion. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Oregon Ducks, the New York Giants and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Sam 30; his son, Zack 19; and his partner Polly. He is also survived by his mother Justine, his brothers Bill and John, sisters Penny, Alison, and Phyllis and nieces and nephews Hanna, James, Holly, Henry, and Alastair.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Bernardinelli Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please support kitchenangels.org/
