Marilyn Ruth Hibben, 91, Aug. 7

Marilyn Ruth Hibben, 91, passed away Saturday night, August 7, 2021. She was surrounded with family in her passing, in Powell, Wyoming.

Marilyn was born March 30, 1930, in Denver, Colorado to Evelyn P. (Morris) Stone and Claude Stone. Shortly after Marilyn’s birth, she was adopted by Frank G. Townsend. She graduated from Arvada High School and attended college classes at University of New Mexico.

In 1948, she married Donald Eugene Perkins and had three children, Lois, Shari, and Norm. In 1955, Marilyn married Marshall Rapier and had one child, Ruth. In 1976, she moved to Albuquerqu­e and became an Archaeolog­y Lab Assistant at UNM. In 1993, she married Dr. Frank C. Hibben and they had many wonderful world adventures together. She lived in New Mexico from 1976 until 2015 when she developed Alzheimer’s disease and moved to Wyoming to live with her daughter, Shari. Shari and her husband Randy took care of Marilyn for the rest of her life.

Marilyn was a talented artist, homemaker, and worked various jobs until she became an Archaeolog­ical Lab Assistant. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her interests included nature hikes, reading, and world travel. Later in life, she was fortunate to travel to many countries and be part of several safaris.

Survivors include her children, Shari A. (Perkins) Wollam, D. Norman Perkins, Ruth L. (Rapier) Ruckman; six grandchild­ren Leia, Christophe­r, Aaron, Ryan, Paul, and Jenny and 15 great-grandchild­ren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Hibben, her parents Frank and Evelyn Townsend, her brother Frank G. Townsend III, her daughter Lois Irene (Perkins) Madrid, and her granddaugh­ter Lola (Ruckman) Macfarlane.

A graveside service will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery, Los Alamos, NM.
