He may not have landed that coveted hosting gig on Jeopardy, but LeVar Burton is the grand marshal of this year’s colorful parade, for which the theme is “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” That overarchin­g concept is intended as a celebratio­n of how education can open both doors and minds, as well as change lives for the better. This Is Us stars Chrissy Metz and Susan Kelechi Watson, pictured, are the hosts. The Rose Parade features three primary types of entries: floral decorated floats, equestrian units and marching bands.

HGTV Dream Home 2022 This new one-hour special showcases the 2022 fully furnished dream home featured in this year’s sweepstake­s, which HGTV viewers can enter twice a day at the cable network’s website between Dec. 28 and Feb. 17, where they can find all official rules. This year’s “nature-inspired” home is a 3,090 square foot, two-story, three-bedroom modern luxury cabin sitting in the idyllic mountain town of Warren, Vt., a popular vacation destinatio­n. In addition to the home, the winner also receives an all-new Grand Wagoneer vehicle and $250,000 cash.

Great Performanc­es For his fifth year, Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) returns to host “From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebratio­n 2022,” as the acclaimed Vienna Philharmon­ic ushers in a new year with a performanc­e from the iconic Musikverei­n concert hall in Austria’s capital city. Following tradition, guest conductor Daniel Barenboim will lead his instrument­al forces in a program of popular waltzes by Johann Strauss and other members of his family.

When Nature Calls With Helen Mirren This comic nature docuseries narrated by actress Helen Mirren wraps up its first season with two final back-to-back episodes. First, “The Optimistic Mosquito” features a normally pesky insect that wants to do good in the world and a senior wild boar looking for love. Then, in the finale “Omen Cat,” a cheetah is haunted by every critter it ever ate.
