-

Thomas Bert Tilton “Tom” passed away on March 20, 2022 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces. He was born July 8, 1947, to Jim and Ruth Tilton in Goldsboro, NC. He grew up an Air Force brat and moved with his parents to many of his dad’s assignments, including two in England. Tom served in Vietnam and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career took him all over the world, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and also Germany, where he met his wife Heidi. They spent a couple of years in Germany and then the Philippines, while he was working in the semiconductor industry. After moving to New Mexico in 1986 Tom retired in 1994 in Albuquerque and began a second career as a custom home builder. He built their home in Albuquerque and Santa Fe and helped realize the home dream for his clients. Tom was a sailor, a skier, a hiker, a mountain biker, a Ham radio operator, an avid photographer, loved working on his miniature trainset and after playing tennis for many years he embarked on more hobbies during retirement: motorcycle riding, golf and volunteering at several organizations in Santa Fe.

He is dearly missed by Heidi and her family, his Cousin Tessa (Walt), and Cousin Linda (Bruce) and all the people he touched in his life, many of whom became dear friends.

A service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on April 27 at 2:15 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Elizabeth homeless shelter at 804 Alarid, Santa Fe.
