Santa Fe — Molly Torrans Lott, the beloved wife of John F. (Jack) Lott Jr., stepmother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the age of 78. She was born on October 23, 1944, in Tyler, Texas, to Dezzie and Ward Torrans. Molly was predecease­d by her parents and her brother, Pat Torrans.

Molly graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. She continued her education where she graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in education and preceded to get her Master’s degree. She spent 20 years in the Lubbock, Texas school system as an advanced English teacher, guidance counselor, and director of counseling, working to enrich children’s lives.

In her personal life, Molly met the love of her life, Jack Lott, from a pioneer West Texas ranching family, and they were married on September 17, 1988. Molly quickly developed a love for the ranching way of life and embraced her new role as a West Texas cowgirl! Jack and Molly left the ranch in the hands of the next generation and headed to Santa Fe in 1995 to start the next chapter of their lives.

Molly was a devout member of The Episcopal Church and quickly settled in and became an active member of The Episcopal Church of The Holy Faith in Santa Fe. She was a creative and caring person who loved her family, friends, and fly-fishing on the Pecos. She had a great sense of humor and was always eager to learn more about the people around her. Molly had a warm heart and was interested in her family and friends’ endeavors, always asking, “tell me what’s going on with you”?

Molly is survived by her husband, Jack Lott, her stepchildr­en Kimberly Lott Peacock and husband Joe R. Peacock, Jr., John Minor Lott and wife Kimberly, Jeff Slaughter Lott and wife Gena, 12 Grandchild­ren, 16 Great Grandchild­ren, and her niece Laura Torrans.

A Mass of Resurrecti­on will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at The Episcopal Church of The Holy Faith, 311 East Palace, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Reception to follow in Palen Hall immediatel­y following the service. The service will be live streamed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Faith.
