Lucky seven: The Johnstons see a year of celebration in all-new season
The kids have flown the coop and big things are coming for the Johnstons, both young and old. Barreling towards their 10th year on air — and plenty of other exciting celebrations — the “7 Little Johnstons” return with some notso-little changes in this all-new season, beginning Tuesday, March 13, on TLC.
This much-loved, binge-worthy reality series has now followed this family of seven — Joseph “Trent” Johnston, 47, and Amber Johnston, 44, along with their five children, Jonah (24), Liz (22), Anna (22), Alex (18) and Emma (18), all of whom live with dwarfism — through the past nine years of documenting their ups and downs and their achievements and disappointments along the way. With the children now grown, however, the series has spread its wings alongside the youngest Johnstons, following the family as they discover their own distinctive paths.
According to TLC, “this season marks the beginning of some major new chapters for the Johnston family. With Emma and Alex starting senior year of high school, Trent and Amber inch closer to entering the empty-nester phase of their lives and decide to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary all year long, complete with mystery dates and a salsa dance performance.”
“Meanwhile,” the synopsis continues, “Anna becomes the first Johnston child to own a home, while Emma struggles to make real friendships. Alex and Allie’s relationship hits a rocky patch as the distance wears on the young couple. Jonah leans into his new hobby of barbecuing and considers the possibility of making a career out of it. Finally, Liz and Brice reveal a big secret they’ve been keeping from the entire family.”
This final promise has fans bubbling with excitement, as Liz and her aforementioned boyfriend, Brice Bolden, have been dating since 2018 and just recently welcomed their first child — a daughter named Leighton Drew — on Nov. 3, 2023. While possibilities are endless for the young, growing family, speculation has been stirred regarding the couple’s living situation, a possible engagement and more.
With new family members, new challenges and new beginnings galore, Season 14 of “7 Little Johnstons” premieres Tuesday, March 12, on TLC.
