The council unanimousl­y approved a resolution sponsored by Councilor Signe Lindell to name the baseball field at Fort Marcy Park “Zozobra Field at Fort Marcy Park” in honor of the 100th Burning of Zozobra this summer.

Five people, including District 4 County Commission candidate Adam Fulton Johnson, spoke during public comment asking the council to introduce and pass a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. “I think the Santa Fe City Council could show leadership in this capacity,” Johnson said.

As part of its consent agenda, the council approved an amendment to its fiscal agency agreement with the North Central New Mexico Economic Developmen­t District to add three additional capital outlay appropriat­ions from 2021. The allocation­s are $95,000 for security cameras and security systems at city parks, $125,000 for arson investigat­ion training and equipment for Fire Station 3 and $75,000 for sanitizati­on of city swimming pools.

As part of its consent agenda, the council also approved three contracts for a total of $5.4 million for fixes to the city’s wastewater treatment plant, which was cited again last month by the EPA for dischargin­g elevated levels of effluent into the Santa Fe River.

As part of its consent agenda, the council approved an agreement with the state Department of Transporta­tion to install three historical markers along East Alameda Street honoring Dona Teresa de Aguilera y Roche, Myra Ella Jenkins, and Dorothy McKibbin as part of the New Mexico Women Historic Marker Program.

As part of its consent agenda, the council approved an advertisin­g agreement for $275,000 with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe for a Zozobra special-shape balloon.

Kristina A. Markey was unanimousl­y appointed to a seat on the Planning Commission representi­ng District 4 through June 2026.

Councilors encouraged residents to participat­e in Keep Santa Fe Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup this Saturday. “It’s going to be bigger and better than ever,” Councilor Carol Romero-Wirth said. Lindell was more direct: “Don’t litter.”
