Market perspectives from SFAR

- Realtor Designation Bulletin PACO ARGUELLO

Each year the Santa Fe Association of Realtors hosts quarterly meetings for qualifying brokers (QBs), experienced brokers who may lead large, medium or one-person real estate offices. A qualifying broker in New Mexico is issued a qualifying broker’s license if the applicant can document that the associate broker’s or equivalent license has been on active status with a real-estate brokerage for two of the last five years immediately preceding their application to become a qualifying broker, and must provide a certificate of completion of the New Mexico Real Estate Commission-approved 30-hour course in brokerage office administration. To highlight the role of our qualifying brokers, the association asks several QBs what message they would share with the community about the current Santa Fe housing market.

Kurt Hill, qualifying broker with Adobes & Dirt, shares that, “Correctly-priced homes under $500,000 are very active and selling quickly.” He added, “Visiting buyers are generally looking for second homes with a plan to retire in Santa Fe.”

Offering this perspective, Liz Cale, qualifying broker with Santa Fe Properties, finds, “Buyers in Santa Fe are realizing they now have options to build some of themost energy-efficient homes in the country at affordable prices. Buyers are responding to the excitement of being able to personalize a brand new home that fits their needs.”

Lastly, the qualifying broker with Coldwell Banker TrailsWest Realty, Rachel Rosebery, states, “We are in a very fortunate position to be experiencing a market that is steady and slowly climbing.” She further noted, “With the change in housing inventory, both sellers and buyers can take advantage of this market.”

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) and its affiliated institutes, societies, and councils provide a wide range of programs and services that assist members in increasing skills, proficiency, and knowledge. Designations and certifications acknowledging experience and expertise in various real-estate sectors are awarded by NAR and each affiliated group upon completion of required courses.
