Even the most didactic astronomers wax poetic over convergences — those rare celestial events when stars or planets, whirling through the cosmos in their orbits, align in exceptional ways. For Seabourn, one such stellar convergence will coincide with the inauguration of our beautiful new ship, Seabourn Encore, in Singapore on January 7, 2017. We’re planning an energetic, colorful celebration, featuring Singaporean entertainers and musicians, the ship’s formal christening by her godmother, and culminating with the traditional blessing of the ship by smashing a bottle of Champagne against the hull.
Both Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Sojourn will end voyages in Singapore on that same date. This not-quite-unexpected event affords guests disembarking either of those voyages, as well as those embarking on Seabourn Sojourn that day, the opportunity to join embarking Seabourn Encore guests in the historic festivities celebrating Seabourn Encore’s inauguration.
The Singapore Tourism Board has graciously agreed to host the inaugural event. In cooperation with them, Seabourn has designed a set of optional pre- and post-cruise Seabourn Journeys that include luxury accommodations at the beautiful Marina Bay Sands Hotel, plus exclusive Singapore sightseeing programs combining traditional highlights of the city, delicious Straits cuisine, and the spectacular new attractions in their award-winning Gardens by the Bay waterfront development. Along with visits to the city’s Peranakan Museum, Raffle’s Hotel and National Gallery, participants will also tour Gardens by the Bay’s 2-acre Cloud Forest, the 3-acre Flower Dome and the impressive Supertree Grove with its 80- to 160-foot sculptural “trees” supporting live foliage.
Guests on each Journey will also have the opportunity to join the embarking Seabourn Encore guests at Seabourn Encore’s Inaugural Ceremony.
