Seabourn Club Herald

DEAR SEABOURN CLUB MEMBER,

-

All of us in Seabourn’s Seattle home office were delighted to welcome Seabourn Sojourn in October for a brief one-day visit as she was southward bound from an exciting first season cruising in Alaska. She and her crew were headed to tropical waters in the South Pacific and Panama Canal. Following a holiday season in the Caribbean, Sojourn will set off on a series of Extended Explorations to South Africa, the Indian Ocean and Asia.

Seabourn Odyssey is also cruising the Caribbean this season, among unspoiled islands and hidden yacht harbors.

Seabourn Quest is bound even further south, to celebrate another sensational season cruising Patagonia, Antarctica, the Amazon and South America. Guests aboard our newest ship, Seabourn Encore, will be enjoying the austral summer in the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. In Italy, meanwhile, our beautiful new Seabourn Ovation is undergoing her final finishing and fitting-out for her eagerly anticipated debut next spring.

This issue of your Seabourn Club Herald touches on several of our fascinating destinations, as well. Clare Emmett reveals the surprisingly domestic details archaeologists are uncovering in Newfoundland about the home life of the Vikings, North America’s first European colonists. Stephen Grasso explores a very different sort of home in an article about the Roman emperor Diocletian’s palace in Split, Croatia. Rosemary Parkinson offers invaluable insider tips about her adopted home island of Barbados, and Richard Varr takes us to the haunting beauty hidden deep inside Alaska’s majestic glaciers. You’ll also find some exciting news about some new Extended Explorations itineraries, and get a privileged first look at expansions planned for the very popular Ventures by Seabourn program from

Robin West, Seabourn’s Director of Expedition Operations.

We hope to welcome many of you aboard one of our intimate, all-suite ships during our upcoming holiday voyages. But wherever you will be celebrating, we wish you and yours another warm, loving and memorable season, and a happy and healthy New Year.
