SEABOURN EXPANDS EXTENDED EXPLORATIONS
SEABOURN IS DEPLOYING SEABOURN SOJOURN ON A GLOBE-SPANNING ARRAY OF ITINERARIES SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR EXTENDED EXPLORATIONS IN 2018 AND 2019.
The morning you depart a Seabourn ship at the end of a voyage is bittersweet — a moment all too familiar to Seabourn Club members. It’s just plain hard bidding fond farewell to friends you have made on board, and to crew members who have cared for you so thoughtfully. But perhaps even more wrenching is the agonizing realization that “your” ship will now be sailing on without you, discovering new and intriguing ports and experiencing adventures you would dearly love to share.
To ease that distress, or at least to postpone it for a while, Seabourn began designing itineraries that offered opportunities for guests to combine multiple voyages and simply stay on board to enjoy an extended exploration of even more extraordinary ports of call. Extended Explorations opportunities continue to appear on various itineraries of most Seabourn ships in different seasons and different regions of the world, but in 2018 and 2019, Seabourn has taken the unprecedented step of dedicating a large portion of Seabourn Sojourn’s schedule to itineraries specifically designed for Extended Explorations.
Extended Explorations offer the sort of enhanced travel experiences long-cruise lovers demand: itineraries are enriched with frequent overnight stays or extended stays in select ports of call. Seabourn Conversations guest lecturers on board are focused on topics pertinent to the destinations. Menus and wine lists are crafted to include seasonal produce, local vintages and the regions’ unique flavors and influences, and local entertainment and cultural performances are planned for guests’ enjoyment on board.
By combining segments of Seabourn Sojourn’s annual deployment in 2018 and 2019, long-cruise aficionados can extend their travel experiences through months and even whole seasons of ultra-luxury exploration in incomparable Seabourn elegance and ease.
An excellent example is the 72-day Africa & the Pacific Realm voyage sailing from Cape Town, South Africa, to Hong Kong, China. During that extended voyage, guests aboard Seabourn Sojourn will sail through three great oceans, visiting 33 ports of call in 16 countries. They will enjoy overnight stays in nine of those ports, and in both Thilawa (Rangoon) and Singapore, their stay will extend over three days. Along with marquee ports such as Durban, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila, they will discover hidden gems such as Reunion Island, Thailand’s Similan Islands, Sulawesi and Coron in the Philippine Archipelago. They will share the voyage with experts on the regions where they are sailing, and venture ashore in select ports to go Shopping with the Chef in local markets. Best of all, throughout this epic adventure they will enjoy the good life aboard an ultra-luxury Seabourn ship.
