Ahti, 85, formerly of Lunenburg, died peacefully Tuesday July 7 at the home of his daughter Marilyn Bousbaa where he had been living for the last several years. Raimo was born in Somero, Finland September 29, 1934, son of Viotto and Fanny, (Amelia) Ahti. Raimo was a self-employed stone mason and worked on many constructi­on projects. He had also been employed by Seppala and Aho Constructi­on Co. Raimo was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Beside his daughter Marilyn, Raimo leaves his daughter Lynn Benoit and husband Greg and two granddaugh­ters Ivy Benoit and Lynn Marie Ahti of Leominster, his son Carl Ahti of Fitchburg, his sister Kitva Ahti Metsala of Finland. Also his grandaught­er Jamila Bousbaa and great grandchild­ren Cameron Douglass, Julian Douglass. Raimo was predecease­d by his wife June in 2006, his son Eric in 1993 and and his son Alan two weeks ago, and a brother Risto Ahti. Terri leaves behikd her wife of 45 years, S7sak L. Wardle, a da7ghter, Diake Beljokt of Attleboro, a grakdsok, Kyle Beljokt akd a great grakdda7gh­ter Kaelyk Beljokt. A brother Steve Holbeik of Shirley; six sisters, Cokkie Barber of Shirley, Kathryk Cebollero of Cliktok, Dorothy Gioket of Wikchekdok, Phyllis Morales, Patricia M7lligak akd Carol DeMello all of Florida. She was also the sister of the late Johk Holbeik, Joseph Holbeik, Edward Holbeik, akd Robert Holbeik, Mary Frakcis Beck (Holbeik), akd Rita Howard (Holbeik). Roberts FITCHBURG - Florence M. “Flo” (Bent) Roberts, 88, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on July 11, 2020. Flo was born in Fitchburg on April 28, 1932, a daughter of the late Walter Bent Sr., and Helen (Tait) Bent. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, class of 1950, where she remained heavily involved in the alumni committee throughout her life, never missing an annual class reunion. Flo was always active, and enjoyed playing tennis recreation­ally and participat­ed in the YMCA women’s volleyball league, which competed regionally. Flo and her husband Don enjoyed nordic and alpine skiing and frequented Vermont with friends and family over the years. Don and Flo also enjoyed summers in southern Maine, an annual family tradition that began early in their courtship. She was a lifelong member of the Beth Eden Baptist Church in West Fitchburg. For many decades, Flo worked as a secretary at the Oak Hill Country Club, until her retirement. She was beloved in her community and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her three children, Donna Roberts Fairbanks of Fitchburg, Dana Roberts and his wife, Nelda, of Maine, and Douglas Roberts of Montana; grandchild­ren, Lauren Smith and her husband, Marc, of New York; Jordan Roberts of Washington; and Sophia and Tait Roberts of Montana; along with several nieces and nephews. Flo was predecease­d by her beloved husband of 64 years, Donald “Don” Roberts in 2014, as well as her siblings, Louise Johnson, Walter Bent, Jr., and Donald Bent. Syrjala passed away on June 23, 2020 at the age of 73 from Leukemia. Pre-deceased by his wife Gail Syrjala, survived by their daughter and her family, his two sisters, brother and their families. He and Gail were married just under 45 years, lived in Leominster & Athol, Massachuse­tts until they moved to Florida in 2013. Raised in Townsend Massachuse­tts, graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School in 1964, a licensed stable employee, groomed harness horses, owned and raced a trotter horse and was a member of the U.S. Trotting Associatio­n. He was also machinist for GE for many years. After retirement he became a school bus driver for Wilson Bus Lines. A friend of Bill’s from 1973 till he passed, a member of the former Montachuse­tt Alcoholism Council served in the 1980’s as President of the board. He represente­d GE and local 286 AFL-CIO at Massachuse­tts State Labor Substance Abuse programs, Stone Hill College and Massasoit Community College. In 1980, he became a founding member of the Boston Bass Anglers Fishing Club, competed in several bass tournament­s, winning many trophies. He started running in the 90’s to manage stress, joined in the N. Medford Running Club, completed six marathons (including four Boston Marathons) and helped map the Mid State Trail for the North County Land Trust. His lifetime membership has now expired. A member/board member of the Finnish Center at Saima Park and served as the race director of the Finnish Memorial Foot Race for five years. He will be missed. Services at a later date.
