LEOMINSTER » After being stopped for speeding on Nashua Street in February, the car’s driver was arrested after a

State Police trooper saw powder cocaine spilled all over the car’s inside, according to police and court documents.

The reporting state trooper said he was patrolling on Nashua Street and saw a car driven by Samuel Campbell, 42, of Abbey Road, Leominster, speeding and pulled him over.

While walking up to the car, the trooper saw two children, ages 2 and 4, sitting in car seats on the rear seat, the trooper reported.

After asking Campbell for his license and registration, the trooper noticed Campbell was nervous while trying to locate the registration, the trooper reported.

It was then he saw a white powder, believed to be cocaine, on the center console, inside the front driver and passenger side door, front seat and on Campbell’s pants, the trooper reported.

When the trooper asked Campbell to get out of the car, Campbell did so without placing the car in park and it began rolling forward and a plastic bag fell from his lap, the trooper reported.

While Campbell said there were only 10 grams of cocaine in the bag, when weighed, it was 70 grams, the trooper reported.

Campbell and the children were taken to the State Police Barracks, were Campbell was booked and the children were picked up by a family member.

The state Department of Children and Families was contacted about the situation, the trooper reported.

As a result, Campbell was charged with trafficking more than 36 and less than 100 grams of cocaine and reckless endangerment of a child, according to court documents.

When arraigned in February, Campbell was released after posting a $7,500 cash bail and ordered to return to court on Dec. 17 for a probable cause hearing.
