I support Michael Kushmerek I support Dean Tran

- — Mark J. Rollo, MD Fitchburg

News of the presidential election has overwhelmed the news of the state election. It is important to pay attention to the candidates running in the state election, as their responsibilities have a more direct impact on our daily lives.

One such candidate is Michael Kushmerek, who is a candidate for state representative, for the 3rd Worcester District, representing the City of Fitchburg and Precinct B in Lunenburg.

I am supporting Mike for two important reasons.

Mike has effectively served as Ward IV Councilor in Fitchburg for three terms, providing responsive service to his constituents.

His experience on the city council for eight years has given him the opportunity to recognize the significant impact that state funding and policies have on the workings of the city of Fitchburg. He understands the city’s relationship to the state and the importance of state aid for education, roads and other services.

Mike’s personal story underscores his understanding and the value of education. He willingly has shared his personal experience growing up and how public education and later his opportunity to receive degrees from Fitchburg State University have made the difference in his life, for which he is truly grateful.

I ask that you will consider the candidacy of Michael Kushmerek and join me in supporting him for state representative for the 3rd Worcester District, representing Fitchburg and Precinct B in Lunenburg.

— Ellen M. DiGeronimo, former Ward I City Councilor

Fitchburg

Like many of you I recently received a nasty negative mailing regarding Dean Tran. Ironically, the mailing solidified my support for Dean, who does not participate in the group think of the very liberal Beacon Hill elites.

The mailing assailed Dean Tran for not sending money to Planned Parenthood. I say Bravo! Dean is against taxpayer money going to this corrupt organization that exploits our young people and worse.

The negative campaign literature criticized Dean for being against gun safety. The truth is that Dean defended our Second Amendment rights against a so called “red flag” law that would allow for ex parte proceedings where the accused does not have to be present at court proceedings to lose their gun rights.

In short, so called “progressives” in the legislature are looking out for their liberal agenda. Dean Tran is looking out for us.
