Tree Hunt is on in Townsend

TOWNSaNL » Take a walk and find the decorated trees in Townsend Tree Hunt 2020, which runs through Jan. 2.

There are decorated trees at 10 different sites.

They are on town conservati­on trails, Land Trusts trails or at points of interest around town.

Participan­ts are encouraged to post pictures on Facebook of themselves with the trees.

Be aware that it’s hunting season, so wear bright orange when you are on the trails. There is no hunting on Sundays, but be safe and wear bright orange whenever you are on a trail.

COVID-19 dictates safe distancing from other families so please wear your masks. If trees are damaged or you have a question, text Karen at 978870-8478.

Here are the locations of the trees:

1. Howard Park, entrance is at the end of Howard Street. Park at common and walk down street. Trail is marked. ( There are two trees at this site.)

2. Other end of Howard Park, behind basketball court at Hawthorne Brook Middle School. Park in front of school. Trail is marked.

3. Howard M. Stein Memorial Park (adjacent to Old Meeting House Park). Old Meeting House Road, off Highland. Trail has blue markers. Park on road at dead end leading to trail

4. Pheasant Ridge Trail off

Pheasant Ridge Road. Trail has blue markers. Park at end circle.

5. Mikko and John Aho Nature Walk and Park, Clement Road. Trail has blue markers. Park on Clement Road.

6. Dudley Meadows, Dudley Road. Brown arrows show route. Park at bottom of hill.

Incline to get to trail, but flat after that.

7. Townsend Conservati­on Land (Basbanes on map) on Lunenburg Road.

Road. Tree on property.

9. Veterans of Foreign Wars, 491 Main St. Tree located on Main Street roadside memorial.

10. Reed House, 72 Main St. Tree is located on the railroad tracks, just before the trestle over Minnie’s Brook. Park at Harbor Church.
