Louis J. LeBlanc
FITCHBURG - Louis J. LeBlanc, 94, retired firefighter, devoted husband and father died peacefully on December 12, 2020 at home with his family by his side.
Louis’s beloved wife of 62 years Elizabeth (Erickson) LeBlanc predeceased him in 2012. He leaves behind his devoted children, Jeanne Erickson and husband Bruce of Westminster, MA, Gary L. LeBlanc and wife Nancy of Sterling, MA, Lisa Erickson and husband David of Westminster, MA, Eric LeBlanc and spouse Karen of Fitchburg, MA, and good friend Carrie Butland of Fitchburg, MA. It was their honor to care for him in his last few years of declining health.
Lou was blessed with 7 grandchildren. Elise and Ryan LeBlanc, Nicholas and Julienne Erickson, Alex and Carly LeBlanc, MaryKate Erickson and 3 great grandchildren Brianna, Stella, and Amina.
Lou was born on August 19, 1926 to Frank and Julienne LeBlanc. He was one of 9 brothers and 2 sisters all who have predeceased him.
Lou was a WW II Navy veteran of the Pacific Arena. Following his military service, he married Betty in 1950. He worked at many jobs to support his family before beginning a career as a Fitchburg firefighter in the early 1960’s. His job as a first responder was a source of great pride to him. After retiring from the department, he worked until 80 years of age at Kappy’s Liquors.
Lou would often be seen at the Senior Center, joined into many travel adventures with friends and often wintered in Florida. He was a regular for many years at the Fireman’s Ball and a St. Bernard’s Parish volunteer. Lou was a family man through and through. Close relatives, brother Frank, Beverly, Mary and Eleanor were always part of the fabric of his life. He will be greatly missed as the patriarch of this family.
The family would like to thank, Health Alliance – Home Health & Hospice and especially his granddaughter, Carly LeBlanc, who put her life on hold to take care of him, in his last few days.
LEBLANC - A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 19th, 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg MA. All are welcome to attend. All Covid - 19 protocols will be followed. A Mask is required to enter the church. A private burial will follow. There are no calling hours.
