No bail for Fitchburg man arrested for alleged assault

FITCHBURG » A city man was arrested last week after allegedly breaking down the door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment with a sledgehamm­er and threatenin­g to kill two of the apartment’s occupants, according to police and court documents.

Police were called to an apartment at about noon on Wednesday for a report of a disturbanc­e, the reporting officer said.

When police arrived, three individual­s said Eladio DeJesus, 42, of Melrose Street, the ex-boyfriend of one of the residents, smashed through the rear door of the apartment with a sledgehamm­er to get inside and then threatened to kill two of the residents, including his ex-girlfriend, the officer reported.

DeJesus also threw one of the residents across a room and stole between $200 and $300 and an iPhone, before smashing several items and fleeing, the officer reported.

He was quickly found, taken into custody and arrested, the officer reported.

When DeJesus was searched

after being stopped by police he was carrying heroin and cocaine and a digital scale, the officer reported.

As a result of the incident and the discovery of the narcotics, DeJesus was charged with assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and entering, domestic assault and battery, vandalizin­g property, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, carrying a firearm without a license, larceny over $1,200 by single scheme, possession to distribute a Class A controlled substance (hero

in), and possession to distribute a Class B controlled substance (cocaine), according to court documents.

When arraigned on Friday, DeJesus, who pleaded not guilty, was ordered held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerous hearing, which is scheduled for Wednesday.

If he is found not dangerous, DeJesus will need to post a $15,000 cash bail to be released, according to court documents.
