Joyce L. (Whitney) Labowicz

FITCHBURG - FITCHBURG; Joyce L. (Whitney) Labowicz, 72, of Fitchburg died Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Labowicz was born in Fitchburg, May 29, 1948, a daughter of Irving and Alice (Rousseau) Whitney and was a lifelong resident of the city. For 25 years Mrs. Labowicz worked in the shipping & receiving department of General Electric Company in Fitchburg, retiring in 1999. Following her retirement from General Electric she worked for six years at DRS Technology Company, also in Fitchburg. She enjoyed quilting with her friends Betsy McPhee, Rose Wuoti and Linda Penniman, traveling and making trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She leaves her husband of 33 years, Frank M. Labowicz; her son, Jeromy Mickey of Fitchburg; ner step son Matthew Labowicz; four brothers, Thomas Whitney and Randy Whitney both of New Hampshire, Robert Whitney of Tennessee, Scott Whitney of Florida; four sisters, Judy Bevin of Gardner, Gloria Proietti of Lunenburg, Cindy Brown of Concord, NH, Ruth Whitney of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Connor Mickey and Gabrielle Mickey and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bertram Gurley.

Funeral services will be held privately.
