LEOMINSTER - Theresa “Tess” Ruth Caponi, (84), passed away peacefully on January 1st,

2021 at Leominster Hospital due to complicati­ons from the COVID-19 virus. She was the wife of Arthur “Strip” John Caponi Jr. They shared 61 years of marriage together.

Theresa was born in Leominster, MA on September 4th, 1936 to Edward and Ethel Flannagan of Leominster, MA. She graduated from Worcester State University as an elementary school educator. She worked as a kindergart­en teacher in the City of Leominster for 32 years.

Theresa was a member of St. Leo’s church in Leominster, MA. She loved being with her family and her junior high girlfriend­s, knitting with friends, reading, and spending time at Lake Wyman, Spec Pond, and Hampton Beach. She felt blessed to have had the opportunit­y to teach many students throughout the years.

Theresa was predecease­d by her parents Edward and Ethel Flannagan and siblings Ruth Flannagan, Mary Landgraf, Joan Lachapelle, and Edward Flannagan. She is survived by her siblings Edith Brow, Richard Flannagan and his wife Jane: her husband Arthur John Caponi Jr, her son Scott Joseph Caponi (spouse Diane Caponi), her four daughters Patrice Marie Brewer (spouse Richard Brewer), Melanie Ann Babb (spouse Raymond Babb), Karen Rose Gasbarro, and MaryKate McNamara (spouse Timothy McNamara), her 11 grandchild­ren: Sasha Fortunato, Scott Caponi

Jr., Nicholas Caponi (spouse Samantha Caponi), Nathan Brewer (spouse Kara Brewer), Jessica Brewer (spouse Iain Kingston), Marisa Weatherell (spouse Mark Weatherell), Mackenzie Babb, Geno Gasbarro, Carlo Gasbarro, Micaela McNamara, and Thomas McNamara. She is also survived by 2 great grandchild­ren, Aria and Estella Fortunato, and a third great grandchild due June 2021, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

The family gives a special heartfelt thanks to the staff at Manor on The Hill and Leominster Hospital for their excellent care and concern.
