Domingos A. Carreiro, 70, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on January 17, 2021.

He was born in Sao Miguel, Azores on June 15, 1950, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Amaral) Lazaro Domingos immigrated to the United

States in 1969 and has lived in Fitchburg most of his life.

Despite many challenges in his life, Domingos was known for his quick wit and his love of a good practical joke. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially with his nieces and nephews. He was a naturally gifted guitar player and had a great love for the game of soccer. He especially enjoyed rooting for his favorite Portuguese soccer team, Sporting. His tremendous heart, keen sense of humor, and his warm smile will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his brother Emmanuel Carreiro and his wife Rosalina of Fitchburg, his sister Maria Miller and her husband Frank of California, his sister Lucy Hawkins of Fitchburg and six nieces and nephews

Domingos is predecease­d by his beloved wife and son, Maria (Pacheco) Carreiro and Dennis Carreiro and his brother Liberio Lazaro.

His family would like to thank Health Alliance Home Hospice, the local Portuguese community and his neighbors for the care and support they have provided throughout his long illness.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 noon Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Domingos’ family will receive family and friends at a visitation period Thursday from 10:30 -11:30 AM at the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. For those not able to attend, a streamed recording of the Mass will be available for viewing Thursday afternoon.
