Duchess Meghan would make a perfect press secretary for Biden

President Joe Biden should appoint Meghan Markle as his press secretary

He could startle the world — including the United Kingdom — by making the announcement at his long-awaited first press conference as president on

Thursday.

All he needs to do is not fall down when he reads the announcement on the teleprompter.

Do not smirk. At this point Meghan — the foxy Duchess of Sussex — has held more press conferences than the president — and gotten more favorable coverage.

She is media savvy and would run circles around Jen Psaki, Biden’s current press secretary, who never seems to know what is going on, which is understandable given the guy she works for. He doesn’t know what’s going on either.

The White House is a better fit for Meghan than Buckingham Palace anyway. Upon marrying the clueless Prince Harry, Meghan quickly surmised that Buckingham Palace was not big enough for two queens.

So, dragging poor Harry along, Meghan spurned Queen Elizabeth, dissed the British royalty and returned to the United States, concluding that it might be easier to succeed old Biden than it would old Queen Elizabeth.

Who needs the UK when you’ve got the U. S. in your back pocket, especially as the dopey American media is concerned?

Just witness the extraordinary favorable fallout from Megan’s staged interview with Oprah Winfrey the other day. It was by far Meghan’s best performance to date.

Here you had Meghan, a mixed-race millionaire with an English title complaining about racism in an interview with Oprah, a Black billionaire. You can’t make this stuff up.

And she pulled it off, even turning hapless Harry against his family as well. He’d have hanged in the old days.

So, it should come as no surprise that Meghan has expressed interest in running for president in 2024 when Biden, if he is still around, will be 82. She reportedly has networked with prominent Democrats to test the idea. But don’t tell Joe.

Omid Scobie, one of her biographers, said, ”Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president.”

The White House press job would provide Meghan with continued favorable exposure, which she craves. It would also give her a head-start over other potential candidates, even if it means elbowing Vice President Kamala Harris, a fellow woman of color, aside.

But if you can take on Queen Elizabeth, the entire “racist” British royal family, the crazed British press, roil the British public and what is left of the British Empire, you can handle Harris.

Of course, one of Meghan’s first duties would be to remind the forgetful Biden that Harris is not the president — that he is — and that he should stop calling her that. Otherwise, she might get emboldened.

It will be a challenge, of course, like getting Biden to remember the names of people he appointed to his cabinet and what jobs they hold. Being the actress that she is, Meghan can work on Biden during press conference rehearsals, or even get the names printed on the back of his hand.

Biden supporters would welcome the appointment. Not only could Meghan play the race card against critics, but she could also dump all over Donald Trump, who Biden is still campaigning against.

She has called Trump “divisive” and a “misogynist.” She even got hapless Harry to accuse Trump of uttering “hate speech.” So, her anti-Trump credentials are intact.

When asked about a potential Meghan run for president, Trump responded, “Well, I hope that happens because if that happened, then I think I’d have an even stronger feeling toward running” for president again in 2024.

Trump added, “I wish a lot of luck to Harry, because he’s going to need it.”

While a Meghan presidential run may be in the future, it would be helpful if she got a White House press secretary appointment now in order to gain some experience, although she could teach Biden and Trump a thing or two about dealing with the press.

The press job could be her stepping-stone to the presidency. Not only would Meghan be the first British duchess to be a presidential press secretary, but she could also be the first duchess to become president.

Just imagine an aide opening a President Meghan White House press conference announcing, “Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, Her Highness President Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will now take questions.” Blimey.
