Learn to find inspiration to write books
LANCASTER » April’s featured event of Seven Bridge Writers’ Collaborative is “Writing Inspiration with Barbara Foster and Sharon Harmon,” on Thursday, April 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The program will be held online; register at forms.gle/kyfstszsrhvjazrz6.
Foster and Harmon will share what they have learned in the field of writing inspirational pieces. Harmon will discuss the therapeutic work of writing to deal with issues. It will include journaling, letters, and poetry. She will show the class how to submit a poem and also a list of possible places to submit them. Foster will offer tips on: finding your voice to tell your story; why inspirational and religious pieces are in demand; what to avoid in this type writing; what is needed to capture the attention of editors and readers; and how markets differ and market suggestions.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Littleton Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Also this month, SWBC presents “Songwriting with Nancy Beaudette” on six Wednesdays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, and May 5 and 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Explore the elements of songwriting, including lyrics, rhythm and melody. Over a six-week period, students will be asked to create their own lyrics, develop a melody and be given an opportunity to perform their composition.
