Fitchburg gang head gets two years in drug case
BOSTON » A former member of the Fitchburg Chapter of the Massachusetts Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation (“Latin Kings”) was sentenced Friday on drug distribution charges, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Dairon Rivera, a/k/a “King Mafia,” 27, was sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge Rya W. Zobel to two years in prison
and three years of supervised release. In December, Rivera pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to the release.
Rivera admitted to selling over 40 grams of fentanyl to a cooperating witness in a series of audio/video recorded sales that took place between April and December of 2017, according to the release.
The Latin Kings are a violent criminal enterprise comprised of thousands of members across the United States, according to the release. As alleged in court documents, the gang uses drug distribution to generate revenue, and engages in violence against witnesses and rival gangs to further its influence and to protect its turf. In December 2019, a federal grand jury returned an indictment alleging racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy and firearms charges against 62 leaders, members and associates of the Latin Kings.
Rivera is the 22nd defendant sentenced in the case.
