Oquendo, Fitchburg sneak out win

Star running back finds end zone six times

The Fitchburg High football team scored in the waning moments of Friday night’s clash with Nashoba Regional to break a tie and pull out a 43-36 victory at Crocker Field.

Anthony Oquendo scored the final of his six touchdowns with 13 second left to break a 36-all tie, plunging in from a yard out for the Red Raiders (5-2).

James Borsari‘s second touchdown pass of the night pulled the Wolves (2-5) even with 1:54 left and Connor Salmon notched two rushing TDs in defeat.

WACHUSETT 35, LEOMINSTER 7 » Nico Martinez scored a first-half touchdown for the Blue Devils (2-5).

HUDSON 26, NORTH MIDDLESEX 8 » The loss drops the Patriots to 1- 6.

MAYNARD 23, OAKMONT 6 » The Spartans fall to 4-3.

Boys soccer

OAKMONT 4, MONTY TECH 2 » Quinn Sugar netted a pair of goals, while Liam Mullane and Nathaniel Hylan each had single markers for the Spartans CMADA Division 2 quarterfin­al win.

Austin Girouard and Brady Killay scored for the Bulldogs.

NASHOBA 5, NORTH MIDDLESEX 0 » Senior Lela Boermeeste­r had two goals and an assist as the top-seeded Wolves (12-2-1) topped No. 5 North Middlesex (8-6-1) in a CMADA Division 1 quarterfin­al. Graham Straface, Ali Vanasse and Kayla Flanagan each added a goal and Lauren Basteri notched the shutout.

NORTH MIDDLESEX 3, NIPMUC 1 » The Patriots won by scores of 2518, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21 to advance to the CMADA Division 2 semifinals.

Madi LaCreta notched 14 kills and four blocks in the victory, while Alex Caliri had 15 digs and six aces for the Patriots and Bella

Perritano added six kills and four digs.

NASHOBA 3, WACHUSETT 0 » Set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-11.

Senior Ally Descoteaux had seven kills, while seniors Sarah Leonard (six kills and 10 digs) and Taylor Riley (six kills) also con

tributed to the offense.

Seniors Devyn Wells (25 digs) and Addy Ogden (17 digs) led the defense.
