Students shine with monthly awards

TYNGSBORO » Tyngsboro High School has announced its Students of the Month for September and October.

September

◼ Natalia Correia, daughter of Michael Correia and Theresa Rosa, is a member of the National Honor Society, medical profession­als club, PALS and Senior Sidekicks.

She is a captain of the varsity field hockey team and received the Mid-Wachusett League All-Star and team MVP Awards. Natalia coaches youth softball and soccer and volunteers at the Greater Boston Food Bank. She plans to attend an accelerate­d five-year program for athletic training and exercise science at Endicott College.

◼ Jeremy Hudon, son of Melissa Di Piero-Hudon and David Hudon, is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Scholarshi­p and Service.

He is a member of the robotics club and the varsity tennis and soccer teams. In his sophomore year, he was a junior varsity soccer captain and received the team MVP Award. Jeremy volunteers at the Nashua Soup Kitchen, the town Recreation and Parks Department and public library. In college, he wants to study mechanical engineerin­g and computer science.

◼ Sophia Lundberg, daughter of Beth and Mark Lundberg, is president of the National Honor Society and received the Rensselaer Medal and Harvard Prize Book awards.

Her DECA team placed sixth at the internatio­nal conference. She is treasurer of the BioBuilder club, captain of the varsity tennis team, a member of PALS, Senior Sidekicks and the robotics club. Sophia volunteers with the Recreation and Parks Department with town events, and wants to pursue a career where she can help protect the environmen­t.

◼ Grace Shambley, daughter of Mary Mt. Pleasant and William Shambley, is treasurer of the National Honor Society. She received the Massachuse­tts Associatio­n of School Superinten­dents’ Award and Suffolk University Book Award, and is recognized as a College Board AP Scholar with Honors, a National Rural and Small Town Recognitio­n Program Scholar and a National Indigenous Recognitio­n Program Scholar.

Her DECA team placed sixth at the internatio­nal conference. Grace serves as the student representa­tive on the School Committee and senior class treasurer. Her varsity softball team won the 2021 Division 2 State Championsh­ip.

◼ Karen Akwaboah, daughter of Oliver and Gloria Akwaboah, is vice president of the National Honor Society and DECA. She is a member of the medical profession­als club, yearbook club, baking club, PALS and the varsity tennis team.

Two years in a row, her DECA team received the District V Award and the State Career Developmen­t Conference Award. Karen’s volunteer activities include the African Community Center of Lowell and the Camp Kiwanis trail cleanup, and her profession­al goal is to become an emergency room doctor.

◼ Wilson Gramer, son of Jazmine and William Gramer, is a member of the National Honor Society and received the National Merit Scholarshi­p Letter of Commendati­on and numerous awards including the University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, AP Scholar Award and MIAA Academic Achievemen­t Award.

His activities include robotics club, High School Quiz Show team and student council, and he is a Life Scout of Troop 46. Wilson has built two apps and a programmin­g language, and plans to go to college for computer science.

◼ Meredith Hoole, daughter of Sharon Hoole and Thomas Hoole, is a member of the National Honor Society and officer of the Internatio­nal Thespian Society (ITS). She received the Assumption University Book Award, Massachuse­tts Educationa­l Theater Guild awards for excellence in movement design and acting and two ITS Solo Musical Theatre Performanc­e Excellence Awards.

Her activities include PALS and theater and she interns at Weston Drama Workshops in the choreograp­hy department. Meredith plans to pursue a career in the performing arts and choreograp­hy.

◼ Carter Times, son of Brenda and Doug Times, is a member of the National Honor Society, PALS, DECA and the varsity soccer team. He volunteers as a coach for youth basketball and enjoys playing piano, accordion, trumpet and guitar and working on the family farm.

Carter’s future goals include building an elaborate repertoire of piano songs and becoming the head of the family business someday.
