FITCHBURG » The Department of Public Works advises residents of the following work that will be done, weather permitting, during the week of Oct. 25.
Road Construction
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect road closures, delays and detours.
• Routine sewer cleaning and inspections, Hollywood Street neighborhood, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect loud truck noise and localized traffic disruptions. o Sewer repairs will be performed on Hollywood Street, Monday-Wednesday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect local road closure.
• P. J. Albert, Inc. will be continuing work on the Main Street and Boulder Drive Two-Way Conversion Project, which is funded through a MassWorks grant. During the week of Oct. 25 it plans to begin working on installing foundations and mast arms for new traffic signals and controls at the intersection of Boulder Drive and Putnam Street. Their sidewalk subcontractor will also be installing new curbing and sidewalk on Boulder Drive west of Newton Place, around the 166-200 Boulder Drive campus. Expect temporary closures and delays on Boulder Drive.
• P. J. Albert, Inc. will be continuing work on the Alpine Road, McIntire Road, and Williams Road Reconstruction Project. Pulverizing, grading, and paving of the base/binder course has been completed. During the week of Oct. 25 it plans to complete work on the drainage swales and culverts on Alpine and Williams road and pave the top asphalt wearing course on all three roads. Expect temporary road closures and delays.
• P. J. Albert will be continuing work on the Oak Hill Road Reconstruction Project. Indus, Inc. has completed the cold in place recycling between Franklin Road and Sarah Lane. This process involves milling the existing pavement, injecting it with an asphalt foam, and relaying it to form a smooth, solid base/binder course of pavement. P. J. Albert has completed installation of berm, the top asphalt wearing course, and lane striping. During the week of
Oct. 25 it may return to complete loaming and seeding and finish work on the driveway aprons. Expect temporary road closures and delays.
• Gas main work by Unitil/ NEUCO/ Crews will be working on service upgrades and main installations. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Expect detours, road closures, and traffic delays all week in the areas of:
• School Street from Main to Arlington street.
• Main Street from Chestnut to Caldwell street.
• Oak Hill Road from York Avenue to Hurd Street.
• California Avenue.
• S. Fors Construction, the paving contractor for Unitil/ NEUCO, will be paving any remaining patches and/or trenches on the following streets:
• Arlington Street.
• Goddard Street.
• Chestnut Street.
• School Street.
• Prince Street
• Asplundh will be performing tree work on Westminster Street from Monty Tech to Temple Street beginning Oct. 18 through Dec. 31.
• Combination Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drain Separation Project. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Expect detours, lane shifts, road closures, and traffic delays.
CSO/Storm Drain Separation Project
• Nashua Street from Water Street towards Portland Street. Expect localized road closures and detours.
• Clarendon Street from Delisle to Legros street. Expect localized road closures and detours.
• Downtown sewer investigations on Main Street and North of Main neighborhood.
• Soil Test Borings. Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Expect brief localized lane shifts and detours.
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Minor traffic impacts
• Pothole repairs in all wards.
• Spot street sweeping will be performed throughout the city.
• Sidewalk replacement on Day Street.
• Catch basin repair on Washington Street.
• Repair water gate boxes at various locations throughout the city.
Hydrants
• Hydrant maintenance citywide.
