Trick-or-treat hours and Halloween events in the Nashoba Valley set

With Halloween Sunday, many communitie­s throughout the Nashoba Valley have announced their recommende­d hours for trick or treating. Some communitie­s are also offering free or low-cost events, promising fun for the entire family.

To ensure a safe Halloween, Groton Police Chief Michael Luth has offered some simple safety tips that may be useful in any community:

Parents should accompany younger children; wear reflective clothing; carry flashlight­s or glowsticks, use care when crossing and walking along roadways, walk single file. Parents should inspect all treat bags prior to allowing consumptio­n.

ASHBY: 6-8 p.m., occurring primarily on Main Street AYER: 6-8 p.m.

Masks are encouraged. If your household chooses to participat­e, please ensure adequate outdoor lighting.

BOLTON: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Cultivate Care Farms will offer Barnyard Trick or Treat at 401 Main St.

The event is an opportunit­y to go for a trick-or-treat stroll through the barnyard with furry and feathered friends at the farm. Visitors can take a picture with Dory the rabbit, visit with goats and chickens, and gather treats.

Bolton will also host its annual Halloween Parade and Party at 3 p.m. Saturday. The parade will travel down Main Street to Mechanic Street. The parade route will be closed to traffic starting at 2:45 p.m.

GROTON: Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. From 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, the Prescott School Community Center will host a free Halloween Hoopla event.

This family-centered Halloween event will have activities such as Trunk-or-Treat, a costume parade, a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest.

For more informatio­n, visit https://prescottsc­c.org/product/halloween-hoopla. HARVARD: 5-7 p.m. Hillside Halloween: From 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, the Trustees will host Hillside Halloween at the Fruitlands Museum, located at 102 Prospect Hill Road.

The event is an opportunit­y to get dressed in your costume and trick or treat at the Fruitlands Hillside on the museum campus. Timed ticketing will control the flow of guests through the site, allowing for plenty of space for safe Halloween fun.

PEPPERELL: 6-8 p.m. From 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, the Fitzpatric­k Collaborat­ive will host Fright Night @ The Fitz and it promises to be a “fun, safe and free Halloween event.”

Some of the activities include: trunk or treat, a family-friendly dance party, haunted hallway, cookie decorating and face painting. Everyone is welcome to attend. All activities are at The Fitz, 45 Main St., Pepperell.

The Fitzpatric­k Collaborat­ive is still looking for participan­ts for its Trunk or Treat. If you’d like to decorate the back of your car and hand out treats to the kiddos, register your trunk today!
