Spartans rally to top North Middlesex
Down 14-13 to visiting North Middlesex Regional at halftime, the Oakmont Regional football team came alive in the second half to claim a 3422 victory at Arthur I. Hurd Memorial Field.
The win lifts the Spartans to 5-3, while the Patriots fall to 1-7.

High expectations for Falcons
The Fitchburg State ice hockey team was selected second with a total of 29 points in the 2021-22 MASCAC ice hockey preseason coaches poll.
Plymouth State was tabbed the preseason pick to capture the MASCAC crown after claiming the conference regular season and postseason titles during the 2019-20 season. The Panthers collected six first-place votes to amass 36 points in this year's poll.
With Fitchburg State second, UMass Dartmouth followed in third place with 28 points, which included the final first-place ballot, while Westfield State was slotted to finish fourth with a total of 20 points.
The Falcons kick off the season tonight with a non-conference tilt at New England College. Fitchburg State's home opener comes on Nov. 11 when the Falcons host Salem State to open their MASCAC slate.
