their press release. “Artists truly love sharing their passion for their work and look forward to chatting with visitors and answering questions.”

The special Open Studios event takes place Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. More artists than normal will open their studios, and the Lofts building will also be open to the public for the first time since March 2020. Special art demos will take you beyond seeing and help you experience the process behind the art. Among the over a dozen scheduled demos, painter Dave Drinon plans on doing a plein air painting demo outside the WAS building, and Aron Leamon will take attendees through his glass blowing process. A full list of demos, plus more details about the Open Studios, is available at westernavenuestudios.com/november-open-studios/.

ALL OUT FOR ART » Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to start thinking holiday gift-giving.

And what’s better than locally made art work to wow family and friends and give a financial nod to the hard-working artists? “100 & Below,” the members’ holiday show, runs from Nov. 5 to Jan. 2 at ALL Gallery, the Arts League of Lowell’s main space at 307 Market St., Lowell. It features original art that will be sold on a cash and carry basis, and all pieces are $100 or less. … In ALL’s smaller Greenwald Gallery, “Alone/Together,” a new show featuring works by Roberta Bloom, Gay Tracy and Jean Winslow, is on view Nov. 10 to Dec. 5. Visit www.artsleagueoflowell.org for info. WHISTLER’S ARTIST OF THE MONTH » Often told that she paints like Monet, art lovers can judge for themselves when they get a glimpse of the online showcase of works by Monique Sakellarios, Lowell’s Whistler House Museum of Art’s November Artist of the Month. Born in Egypt, she knew she wanted to become an artist from an early age. She took classes at the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art in Cairo, where her teacher first compared her work to the French impressionist’s. She is inspired by his subject matter and style, but unlike him and other impressionists, she primes her canvas with cadmium red instead of painting on white. The red changes all colors applied over it and gives her paintings a flow. She has exhibited at the Whistler and in galleries and museums across the country. She is a signature member of Oil Painters of America and of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society. To view her art, visit www.whistlerhouse.org, contact Sara Bogosian at sbogosian@whistlerhouse.org or call 978-807- 6699. LOWELL’S LATEST » It’s called cncpt6. Located at 103 Market St. in the space once occupied by unchARTed Gallery, it features an eclectic menu, including island-inspired food and several unusual cocktails. The art is inventive and eye-catching, too. More info soon.
