Voters are ready to head to the polls Tuesday for the annual town election.

Between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. voters can cast their ballots at their polling locations. Precincts 1 and 3A will vote at The Groton Center, while Precincts 2 and 3 will cast their ballots at the Groton-dunstable Regional Middle School.

Newcomers Guy Alberghini and Matthew Pisani are facing incumbents Joshua Degen and John Reilly for two threeyear terms on the Select Board.

Rosanna Casavecchia, Yasmeen Cheema and Petronella Guttromson, meanwhile, are vying for two three-year terms on the Groton-dunstable Regional School Committee.

Newcomers Evan Thackaberry and John Truesdell Jr. will face off for a oneyear term on the Board of Health.

Andrew Scott will challenge incumbent Commissioner and Chairman Rodney Hersh for a three-year term with the Groton Electric Light Commission. Hersh has served with the commission since 1992.

Uncontested races include a three-year term on the Board of Health, a three-year term with the Commissioners of Trust Funds, two three-year vacancies with the Planning Board, a three-year term with the Sewer Commission, two three-year terms with the Trustees of the Groton Public Library and a three-year term with the Water Commission.

Two races for the Park Commission, one threeyear term and another oneyear term, both lacked candidates.

Voters will also face two ballot questions in this election.

Question 1, if passed, would make the town clerk a position appointed by the Select Board, rather than one voted on during the annual election after the state Legislature passed, “An Act relative to the charter and the town clerk in the town of Groton,” to allow the charter change if the town votes for it.

Question 2, would remove the words “Holy Bible” from the town seal in an effort to be more inclusive.

Question 2, if passed, is nonbinding and is meant to gauge public opinion and inform the Select Board in regard to the future of the seal, according to the voter information booklet that was mailed to residents prior to the election.
