Author to help children write a book
TOWNSEND » Author Erin Petti, a writer who specializes in stories for young people, will lead a threeweek program for children ages 8 to 12 that will guide them through the steps in writing their very own book.
The group will meet for three sessions from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, July 7, July 14, and July 28 (no class on July 21) at the Townsend Public Library, at 12 Dudley Road.
Petti is the author of “The Peculiar Haunting of Thelma Bee” and the upcoming sequel “Thelma Bee in Toil and Treble,” publishing on Sept. 6, a story about 11-year-old budding scientist Thelma Bee, who, along with her team of ghost-hunting pals, must face supernatural foes in their home
town of Riverfish, Mass. The newest book is already enjoying praise with Kirkus Book Reviews declaring “Thelma Bee in Toil and Treble” filled with “fun supernatural thrills.”
She is a certified yoga teacher, has a master’s degree in education, and a background in improvisational comedy. She lives in New England with her human family, dog, cat and loud chickens. Her interests include practicing lots of yoga, enjoying anything having to do with “Lord of the Rings,” and hanging out with her daughters.
“It is my hope that this program will encourage kids to find their own creative voice and let it sing,” said Petti. “Everyone has a story inside of them, and I am so excited to help these young authors bring theirs out into the world.”
