Hall of Fame gets new home in Leominster
Sports card shop makes move across town
Over the course of a few years, the Hall of Fame of Leominster has become a staple in the community for all things collectable.
Sports cards, memorabilia, comic books, gaming cards. … You name it, they have it.
And the next time a purchase is made from the Hall of Fame, it will be in a brand-new location.
Owner David Ferrante has uprooted the shop from its former home on Lancaster Street and landed a new spot on the outskirts of the Mall at Whitney Field’s territory. Currently in the process of moving into 21A Sack Blvd., the goal is to have the store up and running before the week’s end.
The Hall of Fame has become a local destination for sports enthusiasts over the years, offering new and vintage trading cards in any and all sports. The store has also stocked used records, gaming cards — the likes of Pokémon and Magic:the Gathering — and comic books.
But beyond offering goods for sale, Ferrante and his small but dedicated crew have built a fairly large following that has gone out of its way to support good causes in Leominster and the surrounding communities. There have been raffles and charity box breaks, with proceeds going to those in need.
Hopefully a new location in the midst of several other stores and restaurants drums up even more traffic for a business that has done well for itself and its community in recent years.
Hockey all-stars ready to hit ice
Squeezed between the Central Mass. Athletic Directors Association tournament and the state championship tourney comes the annual Central Mass. AllStar Hockey Games.
Played Sunday at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, the event is made up of a pair of contests pitting players from the four Central Mass. conferences against one another. As always, this year’s edition features myriad players from area programs, including a healthy representation from Lunenburg/ayer Shirley, Fitchburg/ Monty Tech, Leominster, St. Bernard’s, Oakmont Regional, Nashoba Regional and North Middlesex Regional.
The Coughlin Conference team will take on the group representing the Russell Conference at 4:30 p.m. After that game wraps up, the Roy Conference all- stars will square off with the Quinn Conference team.
Hulecki hits milestone
Congratulations are in order for Oakmont Regional basketball standout Ryan Hulecki, who notched career point 1,000 on Monday night.
Hulecki scored 28 points in a 60- 35 victory over Monty Tech in a CMADA Class B quarterfinal to reach the milestone. His twin brother Brandon added 10 points in the win.
Oakmont ( 14- 5) hosts Auburn in a Class B semifinal Wednesday evening at 5:30.
