Fitchburg DPW Alerts: Week of March 25, 2024
FITCHBURG >> The Department of Public Works advises residents of the following work that will be done, weather permitting, during theweek ofmarch25, 2024.
Road Construction
Monday — Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Expect road closures, delays and detours.
MASSDOT will be continuing their reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Circle Street Bridge. Due to construction, the bridge will remain closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
Unitil and its subcontractors Neuco, Path Mechanical and S-fors will be conducting natural gas pipeline replacement projects in the areas of Ashburnham Street, Westminster Hill Road and Wallace Road.
Combination Sanitary Sewer/storm Drain Separation Project
Monday — Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Expect detours, lane shifts, road closures, and traffic delays.
No anticipated work scheduled for this week, however, J. A. Polito & Sons Inc. will be mobilizing equipment and materials to theirmain Street yard location (outside of right- ofway) during the week.
Minor traffic impacts
Monday — Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pothole repairs Citywide.
Repair water gate boxes at various locations throughout the City.
Various repair of the existing drainage infrastructure(s).
Stanley Tree will be working in the Lower Cleghorn area trimming for Unitil. Asplundh will be working in the Maverick Street area trimming for Unitil.
Due to ongoing construction at Crocker Elementary School, heavier than normal traffic may be experienced on Mechanic Street, Bigelow Drive and Whittemore Street. Over the next few weeks there will be steel deliveries, concrete trucks and dump trucks along with construction personnel vehicles.
Hydrants
Hydrant maintenance City-wide.
Water gate valve cleaning/exercising on River Street from Ashburnham Street to Main Street.
Street Sweeping
Street Sweeping ofward 2 will commence on April 1.
