Nebo dis­trict stu­dents ex­cel in de­bate tour­na­ment

Nebo School Dis­trict’s Hob­ble Creek El­e­men­tary School re­cently hosted the El­e­men­tary De­bate Tour­na­ment spon­sored by the Utah High School De­bate Coaches As­so­ci­a­tion. Seventy fifth- and six­th­grade stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in­clud­ing 60 stu­dents from Maple­ton, Brock­bank and Rees El­e­men­tary Schools. The is­sue de­bated this year was, “Do the ben­e­fits of do­mes­tic sur­veil­lance by the Na­tional Se­cu­rity Agency out­weigh the harms?” The fol­low­ing won awards and will have the op­por­tu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in the state de­bate on April 29.
