One way your company can serve your community

My Story Matters Nonprofit enjoys working with educational communities to help bring children custom and personal storybooks. We hold events at schools to interview and photograph students for these books.

During the month of July, we had the opportunity to go to a Utah County school and meet some amazing kids that day! One of the most important parts of these interviewing days are our volun- teers. These volunteer interviewers and photographers help things run smoothly at these busy events.

We especially love when companies come as a team to volunteer! GoReact is a company who has volunteered their time for us repeatedly, and came to our recent event for a company service day.

Ken Meyers, a GoReact employee, de- scribes GoReact as being a, “Utah tech- nology company that creates software to help high school and college students get better at real-world skills. We’re used in more than 500 universities worldwide, and we love making a difference for thou- sands of students and giving them a better chance to succeed in when they enter the workforce.”

Not only has GoReact provided inter- viewers for our events, members of their technical team “have donated program- ming time throughout the year to help the organization improve (My Story Mat- ters’) interviewing software.” said Mey- ers.

GoReact looks for opportunities to serve their community and have really enjoyed working with My Story Matters. At our recent event, GoReact employee Sara Seamons said, “I interviewed two funny, wonderful 9-year-old girls from Mexico who had me laughing one min- ute and my heart melting the next. It was great to hear all about their personalities, experiences, and dreams.”

The interviews we conduct are centered around questions that explore the chil- dren’s lives, talents, goals, and more! It is so fun to interact with the kids and rec- ognize why their story matters. Seamons continued, “I loved their enthusiasm for life, their optimism in sometimes difficult circumstances, and their hope for the fu- ture.” We are grateful for our volunteers who take the time to come to these My Story Matters events and interact with wonderful kids.

Would your company like to get in- volved in an amazing service project op- portunity? GoReact highly recommends it. Seamons concluded, ”I loved the op- portunity for personal interaction as well as the chance to serve the community with my work colleagues.”

Our My Story Matters community events make a great service day. If your company would like to get involved, please reach out to office@mystorymat- ters.org to participate in any of our up- coming activities.
