Imagination is alive and well in the area

- By JANET KEHRES Correspondent to the Daily Globe

When Faye Henderson was in the fifth grade her teacher told his students to write a story. Her imagination came alive, and she escaped into the characters, the plot, and the setting. The students considered their works were published when they had the opportunity to read them aloud. That time was the most memorable to Henderson in the fifth grade, except for recess.

Henderson’s first book was a mystery - Abandoned in the Everglades. It is Book 1 of her JIGS UP Series. Thus far, her books have been mysteries, specifically Cozy Mysteries. No violence, explicit language, or illicit sex can be found in her books.

Henderson has also published short articles for several magazines, and written a collection of short stories. One short story, ‘Gracie Who is Missing?’ was one of sixty selected for the Florida Writers Association’s 2016 short story collection. ‘How to Write a Novel a Chapter a Week’ was published in the 2018 collection called A Writer’s Life.

She finds great pleasure in creating the characters and setting in her books and watching the twists and turns of the plot. She especially enjoys creating memorable characters that readers love as much as she does.

For her reading pleasure, Henderson likes all genres except Science Fiction and Erotica. She is not a big fan of Fantasy or Romance but admits she does read them. Her favorite genre is mystery, specifically cozy mystery.

Henderson admits there are a number of good writers and family members who are creative in other media, but no one has shown a desire to write a book.

Covid-19 has changed her world and how she operates as an author. She no longer does book signings and her writer’s critique group no longer meets in person. The marketing is done solely online.

If you have not had the opportunity to read any of her books, you can find them listed on Amazon.
