New senior art class at Richland Academy

-

Mansfield, OH Richland Academy of the Arts is excited to announce an addition to their class offerings for those 60+. This new project-based class, “Paint and Share,” will take place on Thursdays from 11:00-1:00 pm beginning October 29 and will last for six weeks.

In this class, seniors ages 60+ will use their artistic skills in a meaningful way by sharing their personal life story or the story of someone else who has highly impacted their life through painting on the surface of a chair to create a unique and functional piece of visual art. This class is inspired by the award-winning BGSU art showcase, “Sit and Tell.”

“We hope that this class will allow students to reflect on their own life-changing experiences and be a part of uniting a community of artists through storytelling,” states Marianne Cooper, Richland

Academy of the Arts Executive Director.

By the end of this six-week class, students will have the opportunity to display their chairs in the Richland Academy Art Showcase. All material expenses are covered for this class by the Dr. Harold and Clara Ballitch Advanced Eye Care and Surgery Center, and a $15 donation will be accepted.

Richland Academy’s 60+ Programs are sponsored by the Area
