Generous donors make Richland Gives a success

-

MANSFIELD Richland Gives, an online giving event hosted by the Richland County Foundation, raised $356,820 for 83 Richland County nonprofit organizations. Since its inception in 2015, Richland Gives has raised $1,435,869.

Richland Gives is designed to encourage people to contribute to local nonprofits they care about through a single giving website. The foundation hosted the day to build capacity, grow philanthropy and make the community stronger. It allows local organizations to raise funds and awareness as well as cultivate new donors and reinvigorate lapsed donors.

The Foundation awarded $34,000 in grants as incentives during the giving event. The nonprofit organizations that raised the most in the small and large nonprofit category were awarded $3,000, for first place, $1,500 for second place and $500 for third place.

NORWALK, Ohio— Flu season is here and it is more important than ever to take steps to prevent getting sick. One of the best ways to protect yourself is getting a yearly flu shot. Huron County Public Health (HCPH) will be holding a second Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic at Huron County Public Health located at 28 Executive Drive in Norwalk on Friday, December 11, 2020, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. There will be 160 slots available for high-dose vaccine and 40 slots available for the standard-dose vaccine. Attendees are required to pre-register for the Drive-thru Flu shot Clinic at https://www.eventbrite. com/e/130261661135.

When attending the clinic, HCPH asks that you bring a picture I.D. and your insurance card. Most insurance types and self-pay clients are accepted. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and in effort to slow the spread of illness, HCPH is requiring the use of face masks while flu shots are administered. We ask residents to continue to stay home if they are feeling unwell, wash/sanitize their hands frequently, and follow social distancing guidelines.

Flu shots are recommended for people six months of age to adults, pregnant women, and senior citizens. It is also important to consider getting your flu shot if you live with or care for those that are unable to. This year, getting a flu shot will not only help protect you and those you love, but it can help reduce the strain on healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Only adults will be vaccinated during these drive-thru clinics. For children under 18 years old and anyone unable to attend the clinic, please call 419-668-1652 Ext. 241 to schedule an appointment.
