JACKSON TOWNSHIP — With a new name, new ownership and upgrades taking place, Shelby Crossing’s 2021 golf season is underway at the venue formerly known as Shelby Country Club.

Shelby Crossing at 3885 Laser Road is joining the family of Little Apple Golf Course in Bellville, The Woods at Possum Run in the Mansfield area and Oak Tree Golf Club in the Mansfield/ Ontario area, a recent announcement stated.

“They already owned three courses so it was a good fit,” Shelby Crossing pro shop manager and event coordinator Katie Parrish said of the new owners she identified as Trent and Jenifer Wine of Bellville.

Shelby Country Club dated back to 1928. Its name change was effective Thursday, March 25.

“They are making all kinds of improvements,” Parrish said of the new owners. “All new batteries in all of the (golf) carts, and we’re getting new sand for all of the sandtraps in the next week.”

The swimming pool will not be reopened and will be filled in. “They will make a grassy area down there,” Parrish said.

“The restaurant will not be opened,” Parrish also said. “There is a possibility that they will lease it out, but they don’t know that yet so the restaurant will not be opened.”

“We will still do events,” she said. “Weddings, graduation parties, class reunions, baby showers and bridal showers.”

She noted that a pavilion seats 250 in addition to other on-site building options.

New batteries for the golf carts are not all that is new.

“We’ve got new equipment,” Parrish said. “We’ve got new range balls. We’ve got all kinds of improvements coming.”

New signage also is on the way.

The announcement about Shelby Crossing also included pricing information:

* A $1,400 individual membership will include unlimited golf and range balls at Little Apple, The Woods and Shelby

Crossing.

* A diamond membership that includes unlimited golf and range balls at all four courses is $1,700.

“They can call and make a tee time,” Parrish said.

The Shelby Crossing pro shop can be reached at 419-347-1824.

“We are very excited
