Dale Robert Bruner, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Born May 15, 1929 in Seneca County to Jesse and Mabel (Smith) Bruner, he was a lifelong Shelby area resident. A 1948 graduate of Willard High School, he was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Dale was employed with Columbia Gas for 37 years before his retirement in 1990. He had also been employed part time at Will’s Texaco in Shelby for numerous years. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church and the American Legion in Sandusky Post #83. Along with being a mechanic, Dale enjoyed doing yard work, gardening flowers, camping, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Frances “Joan” (Perito) Bruner whom he wed January 14, 1951; four children, Roberta (Deny) Rapp of Willard, Russell (Maureen) Bruner of Plymouth, Della (Chuck) Burks of Plymouth, and Cliff Bruner (Cindy Strain) of Shelby; siblings Phyllis Villines of Nevada, Janice Dellinger of Willard, Carolyn (Robert) Ruffing of Norwalk and Phillip (Charlotte) Bruner of Willard; numerous grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters Charlene Frampton and Susan (Robert) France; two sons William Bruner and Todd Bruner; grandson Feld Daniel Rapp; sisters Eunice (Jim) Hite and Emogene (Lee) Keegan; and brother David Bruner.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Friday, April 9, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM in Little London Cemetery at 4852 E. Smiley Ave. Shelby, OH 44875.
