Lady Whippets outlast Clear Fork, Frederickt­own

BELLVILLE — Shelby’s varsity girls track and field team defeated Clear Fork and Frederickt­own in a three-way meet Tuesday.

The Lady Whippets accumulate­d 72 points, followed by the host Colts (65) and Freddies (29).

First-place finishers for the SHS girls were:

— Lily Clark, Kailyn Schwall, Brittany Cundiff and Reyna Hoffman in the 4 x 800meter relay (11:12.0).

— Kassie Stine in the high jump (5-2).

— Stine, Chloe Hursh, Brooke Gwirtz and Mary Wilkins in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:56.3).

— Kayla Gonzales in the 1,600-meter run (5:48.0) and 800meter run (2:37.0).

— Mary Mayer in the 400-meter dash (1:09.8).

— Gwirtz, Schwall, Abby Vogt and Wilkins in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:36.0).

Second-place efforts were from Peyton Putnam in the 100 hurdles (19.21), Jadyn Mcpherson in the discus (93-7), Ava Heimlich in the 400 (1:11.3), Alainah Carmel in the 300 hurdles (53.9), Cundiff in the 800 (2:42.0), Hoffman in the 3,200 (11:47.0) and the 4 x 100 relay of Stine, Hursh, Gwirtz and Olivia Barnard (55.0).

Taking thirds for Shelby were Alyssa Thomas in 100 hurdles (19.6) and 300 hurdles (58.7), Trinity Civay in the discus (87-0), Gwirtz in the long jump (13-8), Tessa Slone in the 200 (29.6) and Schwall in the 3,200 (12:28.0).

Placing fourth were Carmel in the 100 hurdles (19.9), Sara Krietemeye­r in the long jump (13-5 1/2), Putnam in the 300 hurdles (59.3) and Abby Vogt in the 3,200 (12:31.0).

Shelby runs Friday at the Perkins Invitation­al.
