HEERF II will provide funds to MVNU students
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Over $670,000 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF II) will be provided to many Mount Vernon Nazarene University students.
This is the second round of HEERF funds being distributed by MVNU. Unlike the HEERF I distribution, which was a combination of direct payment to students and an emergency grant process, 100 percent of the HEERF II money will be dispersed in direct payments to students.
“The Senior Leadership Team has worked diligently to be fair while attempting to understand how we might assist our most financially challenged students and their families,” said MVNU President Henry W. Spaulding II, PH.D. “We are grateful the federal government understands the financial challenges and the unique contribution of the higher education landscape provided by small, private colleges and universities.”
Based on HEERF II requirements, student awards will be prioritized by financial need. Eligible traditional students who attended during Fall 2020 and/or Spring 2021will receive a one-time payment.
The HEERF II funds can be used by students to assist with their cost of attendance or for emergency costs associated with coronavirus. Students can elect, but are not required, to apply HEERF II funds to reduce their student account balance.
Eligible traditional students will receive an email in the next few days with specific details of the funds they will receive. Students will need to reply to the email indicating if they prefer their funds be allocated to their account or direct deposited.
Students with questions regarding their eligibility should contact their financial aid counselor.
